What Does Being In Alignment Mean: Finding Your Flow in 2025
What does being in alignment actually mean? It's one of these trendy words that pop up more and more.
I have a free downloadable journal with prompts around alignment so you can take this deeper and release what you're ready to release from 2024 and align yourself with 2025. You can download it here.
What is Alignment?
Have you ever had those rare, beautiful moments where everything seems to fall into place? You’re in sync with your thoughts, your actions flow effortlessly, and life feels… right. That’s alignment. It’s not about perfection or achieving an unshakeable balance, but about living in harmony with your truest self and the flow of life.
Alignment isn’t just a concept; it’s a state of being. It’s when your intentions, actions, and energy align with your higher purpose. In this space, you’re not fighting against the current but flowing with it. In this space, you follow your soul's whispers. As the great Rumi once said:
"When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy."
Yet, staying in alignment isn’t always easy. Life throws us curveballs, fears creep in, and the noise of the world pulls us away from our center. So, how do we find our way back to alignment when we’ve lost it? And how can we stay aligned in a world that often feels chaotic?
What is Misalignment?
First, let’s talk about what it feels like to be out of alignment. For me, misalignment often shows up as resistance: a feeling of pushing against life instead of flowing with it. There’s a heaviness, a frustration, as if no matter what I do, I’m stuck in the same loop of repeating patterns.
Sound familiar? Misalignment can manifest as:
It’s not a comfortable place to be. In fact it's uncomfortable as hell (at least to me!) But it’s also an opportunity.
Misalignment is often a sign that something in your life is asking for your attention. It’s an invitation to pause, reflect, and recalibrate.
Reflections of my own recent misalignment
I want to be real with you! Life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. And I am not a healer and spiritual mentor who keeps my own struggles a secret while preaching peace and holistic wellness to everyone else. I’ve faced challenges, including being a stepmother to teenagers for a few years before they left the house (a role that brought incredible complexity into my life), family health scares (My mum was diagnosed with Parkinsons and other sad things), as well as witnessing collective suffering through social injustice, wildfires, ecocide, and genocide.
As an activist, 2024, in particular, brought me to my knees. Watching innocent people suffer, babies freezing to death or being bombed in Gaza, shattered my heart. It shook my faith in my gifts and my belief that my healing work could make a difference. For a moment, I even considered giving up my business and going into politics - the EU parliament to be precise. I felt frozen.
But here’s the thing about alignment: it’s not a destination you arrive at once and stay forever. It’s a practice. Falling out of alignment happens to all of us: it’s part of being human. What matters is how quickly we notice it and find our way back. Over the years, I’ve learned to recognise the signs in my body when I’m misaligned. For me, it’s a sense of “freeze,” like my energy is stuck. Thinking about the crazy world we all live in right now, doubting my gifts, or overextending myself as an activist all triggered that freeze mode parts of 2024.
The beauty of practicing being in alignment is that the more you practice it, the easier it becomes to recalibrate. The moments of misalignment get shorter, and you come back to your centre faster. That’s what I want for everyone—for you. To find your way back to your soul’s whispers, to trust your journey, and to live a life that feels deeply aligned with your truest self.
Spiritual Concepts of Alignment:
Many spiritual traditions speak to the idea of alignment. In Buddhism, the Middle Way is a powerful concept that resonates deeply with the idea of living in harmony. It teaches us to avoid extremes and find balance within ourselves—neither clinging to desires nor rejecting the world. Alignment, in this sense, is about living in the present moment with mindfulness and equanimity.
The chakra system and alignment
The chakra system also offers insight into alignment. When your chakras are balanced, your energy flows freely, allowing you to connect to your higher self and the world around you. The heart chakra, for example, governs love and compassion, while the solar plexus is the seat of personal power. When these energy centers are aligned, life feels more fluid and connected. However, if any chakra becomes blocked or unbalanced, it can throw off your overall sense of alignment.
My Quantum Energy Healing Program teaches students how to identify if a chakra is blocked and how this might affect their life, health and wellbeing, as well as the tools to bring that chakra back into alignment. Barriers to Alignment and How to Overcome Them
Alignment sounds beautiful in theory, but let’s be real: it’s not always easy to achieve. Here are some common barriers to alignment and how to move through them:
Fear of Change
It’s scary to let go of what feels familiar, even when it’s no longer serving you. Change requires courage and trust in the process.
Overcoming It: Take small, intentional steps toward change. Celebrate each step, no matter how small, as progress.External Expectations
Society, family, and peers often impose expectations that pull us away from our authentic selves.
Overcoming It: Practice self-inquiry. Ask yourself: Whose expectations am I living by? What would I choose if I could follow my heart?Self-Doubt
That inner voice that whispers, Who are you to want more? Or who are you to want something completely different?
Overcoming It: Replace self-doubt with self-compassion. Affirm: I am worthy of alignment and abundance.
Daily practices to cultivate alignment
Morning grounding rituals: Start your day with intentional grounding, whether through meditation, journaling, or breathwork. For me it's daily journaling and self-inquiry. I can't live without it.
Check-In with your energy: Pause throughout the day to ask, Does this feel aligned with my values and purpose? Especially when you need to make a decision. But even in the small day to day situations.
Align your environment: Clear clutter, sage your space, or rearrange your surroundings to reflect the energy you want to cultivate. As a Space Clearing Expert I can tell you I don't feel well nor aligned when my space is an energetic mess. 😂 You can find out more about my space clearing services here.
Conclusion: An Invitation to Reflect and Act
Alignment isn’t a destination: it’s a journey of constantly recalibrating and tuning into your truest self. As you step into 2025, give yourself permission to release what no longer serves you and embrace the flow of life with trust and gratitude.
Affirmation: I align with my highest self and trust the flow of life.
